About Us

The Center for the Study of Family Health & Wellbeing (CSFHW) is a newly established research center dedicated to investigating how societal structures impact families and children across the United States. Our vision is to become a premier research center that lays the foundation for transformative scholarship on families and children.

We are comprised of five scholars across four academic units: sociology, psychology, kinesiology, and social work. We aim to foster a vibrant intellectual community at the University of Tennessee, attracting and supporting scholars and students engaged in high-quality research that benefits not only the university and Knoxville, but also informs regional, national, and international dialogues.

Our work is organized around three critical, interconnected themes:

Economic Inequality

Health Disparities

Children’s Well-Being
